After the second disappointing year in a row, management has evidently had enough. Less than 24-hours after the team walked off the field for the final time this season both General Manager Omar Minaya and Manager Jerry Manuel were relieved of their duties.

The new GM and MGR will have their work cut out for them as they try to disassemble a team that even Jeff Wilpon admitted were “misspent dollars.” With a few contracts of underachievers eating most of the payroll, there is no one on the team that is safe. Jeff and his brother Fred both agreed that the new GM will have autonomy. When asked if trading superstar David Wright was even on the table, the owner didn’t mince words”… if you're going to listen to the new GM, and he's going to tell you it will bring back five pieces or something, then I guess you have to listen to it. I'm not saying we're going to do it, but you have to listen."
